Proceeds from artwork auction goes into fund providing housing aid for disaster victims
SAN DIEGO – The American Credit Union Mortgage Association (ACUMA) has donated $1,200 from the proceeds of a silent auction of artwork to a National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) charity.
The money supplements a $2,000 donation made last year by ACUMA to the same charity, NAR’s disaster relief fund, which provides housing-related assistance to victims of disasters.
Representing America’s credit unions, ACUMA President Bob Dorsa said the donations demonstrate the commitment to build a closer relationship with Realtors, as well as recognition that both organizations’ members work within their communities to help consumers achieve the dream of home ownership.
The latest donation was raised during a silent auction of West Coast artist Erik Wahl’s oil-on-canvas painting of Apple founder Steve Jobs, held in conjunction with NAR’s Annual Convention and Expo held Nov. 13-16 in San Diego. Wahl, a motivational speaker as well as an artist, created the painting during a presentation at ACUMA’s 2014 Annual Conference.
“Like Realtors, credit unions believe in helping people to own a home,” Dorsa said. “To show our support of this important goal and underline the values we share with Realtors, we are happy to contribute to NAR’s relief fund.”
America’s Credit Unions joined exhibitors at the recent NAR convention, welcoming Realtor attendees to their expo booth and discussing opportunities to partner.
The American Credit Union Mortgage Association provides resources and education to credit unions aimed at streamlining performance, processes and procedures for real estate lending services. ACUMA’s goal is to encourage credit unions to help more consumers get fairly priced and safe mortgage loans delivered locally, and in so doing, providing them with a pathway to the American dream of home ownership.
