Denver, Colo. – Last year the American Credit Union Mortgage Association (ACUMA) announced a partnership with the Bollinger Foundation, which raises funds for the financial and educational support of children who have lost one or both parents while serving in the public and affordable housing industries.
After raising $7,500 in funds from its members, who oversee mortgage operations at credit unions across the country, ACUMA did a direct dollar-for-dollar match and awarded the Washington, D.C.-based foundation a total of $15,000 to support its goals. The contribution was announced at this year’s ACUMA Make Your Mark Annual Conference, which just concluded in Denver, Colo.
According to ACUMA President Peter Benjamin, who spoke of the program to general session audiences during the Denver conference this past week, the Foundation offers qualified recipients grants to ensure that the maximum number of families meet their financial and educational needs. He invited conference participants to make Foundation donations onsite at the Denver meeting facility.
“A lot of us are fortunate, having grown up with both our parents,” Benjamin said, “and as a father myself, I can’t imagine what life would be like for my kids if my wife or I were no longer there to help them. Make this one of the best days of your life and share that goodness with someone who needs and deserves it. It is the least any of us can do.”
ACUMA will continue collecting contributions to the Bollinger Foundation throughout the year. Please visit the ACUMA website for more information about making your contribution to children in need.
