ACUMA Welcomes New Board Members;
Approves Slate of Officers
The American Credit Union Mortgage Association has welcomed two new members to its Board of Directors. The appointments took place at ACUMA’s annual business meeting Tuesday, Sept. 20, held in conjunction with the association’s 26th Annual Meeting at the Cosmopolitan Resort in Las Vegas.
New to the Board is Julie Bowering, Vice President and Director of Mortgage Lending at Elements Financial, a $2 billion credit union headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind. At Elements Bowering has developed a robust, community-based Mortgage Loan Originator program. She also has established the secondary market functions for the credit union, brought on more investors, and maximized all pricing and locking functions.
“I am honored to be joining ACUMA as a board member,” Bowering says. “I am passionate about helping credit unions grow their membership base and achieve real estate lending success. I am committed to serving the board while still being a resource to my credit union peers.”
Also joining the Board is Vince Salinas, Vice President of Home Loans at $8 billion Patelco Credit Union in Dublin, Calif. Salinas balances 30 years of financial services experience with civic involvement, including his role as Board Chair for Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley and, formerly, as a City of San Ramon Housing Advisory Committee member, a role in which he advises the city Planning Commission on affordable housing program policies.
“I am very excited to join the ACUMA Board,” Salinas says. “I am grateful to be able to give back to an organization that has given me so much over the past 12 years. I look forward to furthering the credit union movement by increasing and enhancing homeownership through education, marketing, and professional development of our members.”
“We’re delighted that Julie and Vince have joined the ACUMA board,” says Board Chairman Barry Stricklin. “The skills and dedication they bring to an already outstanding board will help us make greater strides in member service in the years to come.”
In addition to Bowering and Salinas, the ACUMA Board of Directors also includes Amy Moser, Vice Chair, Mountain America Credit Union; Alissa Sykes Tulloch, Treasurer, AmeriCU; Jason Sasena, Secretary, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union; Mark Wilburn, Board Director, Truity Credit Union; Pam Davis, Board Director, Delta Community Credit Union; and Bernie Chavira, Board Director, Desert Financial Credit Union.
ACUMA President Peter Benjamin, CMB, supported Stricklin’s viewpoint. “We have a great team in place to help take ACUMA to the next level of influence and service,” Benjamin says. “I joined the organization this past March with a vision and commitment to making credit union mortgage lenders the industry’s most visible and effective members, and I think this will be the group who will help us all reach that goal.”
